Kristen Anne Bell is an American singer and actress born in 1980. She is an Michigan native born and raised by her parents, Lorelei Frygier (a nurse) and Tom Bell (a TV news director). Her parents are of Polish heritage (mother) as well as German, English and Scottish (father). Kristen discovered her passion for entertainment from a young age. When she was in 1992, she attended her first audition. She got an appearance on Raggedy Ann And Andy. Bell's mom signed her up at an agency prior to when she turned 13; she later appeared on television commercials and newspaper ads. In addition to taking private lessons and acting lessons, she started her career in the year 2000. Bell played a brief, uncredited part in the film Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell attended Shrine Catholic High School, where she took part in musical and drama clubs. The Wizard of Oz was performed by her high school and she took home the role as Dorothy. After graduating, Bell made the move into New York City to attend the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts and was a musical theater student. Bell dropped out of school in 2001 to take on the role Becky of Tom Sawyer. It was also in 2001 that Bell's first appearance in a credited film, Pootie Tang (2002). The scene she appeared in is cut off and the credits only display her. Bell played in the Broadway revival The Crucible starring Liam Neeson and Angela Bettis.
